Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1009491.1 : Sun Fire[TM] E25K server domain OS installation fails to move forward because of "an incorrect Solaris OS image"
PreviouslyPublishedAs 213105 Symptoms when we install a Solaris[TM] 10 Operating System (OS) for an Sun Fire[TM] E25K server domain by following up standard method, system install script need us to confirm: NFS Location: 10.4.1.1:/export/install/SOL_10_0106_SPARC/ after we checked the /etc/bootparams files on E25K Main SC ERROR: The image you specified is an incorrect Solaris OS image. try another two NFS locations such as: 10.4.1.1:/export/install/SOL_10_0106_SPARC/Solaris_10 and now system replys: ERROR: The directory you specified does not contain a valid Solaris OS image. Above informations give us hints that the default NFS location: 10.4.1.1:/export/install/SOL_10_0106_SPARC/ is actual an expected OS image location, but system could not read needed Resolution (1) First, On OS installation server, we check those . files under Solaris[TM] 10 OS images directory: /export/install/SOL_10_0106_SPARC/ It contains two files: .volume.inf root@sc0# cat .volume.inf root@sc0# cat .cdtoc # But after we checked a normal released Solaris 10 3/05 DVD, and we also found that .cdtoc file on Solaris 10 3/05 DVD contains "PRODNAME=Solaris" while in our installation server, .cdtoc file contains: "PRODNAME=Solaris_4" we considered that above .cdtoc file and .volume.inf file are (2) take actions to correct needed . files under Solaris 10 And here are . files contains: root@sc0# cat .cdtoc # # m 2 sun4c root@sc0# cat .volume.inf root@sc0# cat .volume.inf.2 root@sc0# cat .volume.inf.3 root@sc0# cat .volume.inf.4 And pay attention: Above modified or created . files permission setting, (3) Once we prepared above . files under Installation server /export/install/SOL_10_0106_SPARC/, and then in the Solaris OS installation window,type NFS location: 10.4.1.1:/export/install/SOL_10_0106_SPARC/ It Does works for us. and we can make Solaris 10 OS installation Product Sun Fire E20K Server Sun Fire E25K Server Solaris 10, .cdtoc, .volume.inf, OS image Previously Published As 85482 Change History Updated by the ESG Knowledge Content Team 4/2010 Product_uuid 1404a2d3-059a-11d8-84cb-080020a9ed93|Sun Fire E20K Server d842dd03-059b-11d8-84cb-080020a9ed93|Sun Fire E25K Server Attachments This solution has no attachment |
