Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1009473.1 : Sun StorageTek [TM] 5000 Series NAS array LUN indicates "no partition table"
PreviouslyPublishedAs 213084 Symptoms Occasionally, a LUN created on the Sun StorEdge [TM] 5210/5310 NAS array indicates "no partition table". This can be seen via the telnet menu interface or the Web Admin GUI. example: SE5310a StorEdge 5310 NAS Disks & Volumes Drive Volume(s) Available A. ide1d1 /cvol /dvol 0B B. isp2d020 /home 398.6GB C. isp4d001 /vol1 407.7GB D. isp2d022 -- no partition table Any attempts to configure this LUN by initializing it could be met with a failure, indicated by a message, "Invalid/Missing partition". the problem can also be seen while trying to configure LUN paths using the telnet menu interface or the Web Admin GUI. SE5310a StorEdge 5310 NAS Configure Lun Path Lun (Dasd_id 0xA00) Primary Path Index isp2d022 -- no partition table 1 Paths: 1. isp2d022 HBA 0x2, SID0x2, Lun 0x2 Up All LEDs, front and back on the array could be green and there could be no indication of any errors on the NAS Recovery Manager(NRM) using the "Recovery Guru" functionality. Resolution Reboot the NAS head. Once it has rebooted, perform the following actions. 1. If this is a cluster, then check the lun ownerships. Make sure that the lun has been given an ownership. In the telnet menu, A similar screen will be seen: SE5310-NASb StorageTek 5310C NAS Failover / move LUNs Failover Enabled Yes Link Failover Enabled Yes Link Down Timeout 60 Link Restore Timeout 60 1) Current Raid Configuration Adapter LUNS_Owned isp2d021 2) (NEW) Restore Raid Configuration Adapter LUNS_Owned isp2d021 ENTER to move through fields Save changes after last field +------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | | | 1. LUN paths can also be configured successfully.
