Solution  1009181.1 :   Sun Fire[TM] V20z/Sun Fire[TM] V40z can't boot to diags, permission denied

Symptoms
After updating the firmware on a Sun Fire[TM] V20z/Sun Fire[TM] V40z, booting to diags results in permission denied error.

Output:
localhost $ id
uid=2006(sun1) gid=104(service) groups=104(service)
localhost $ platform set os state reboot-to-diags start
This command may take several minutes. Please be patient.
diags: permission denied
Unknown error = = 126
localhost $ diags start
diags: permission denied

Resolution

On the server do the following to correct this problem:
cd <NSV>/diags/<NSV_VER>/mppc/bin
chmod 755 *
where "<NSV>" stands for the mount point of your NSV (e.g. /home/nsv),
and "<NSV_VER>" stands for the version of the NSV (e.g. 2.1.0.9) that
has been mounted.
You need to do the following, on the server:
cd <NSV>/diags/<NSV_VER>/scripts
chmod 777 .
The "scripts" sub-directory in the diags directory need be writable by
everybody. If this does not happen, then, you will not be able to run
any of the platform diagnostics, but can still run voltage, temperature,
and fan diagnostics.
