Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1009123.1 : Sun StorEdge[TM] 6320: Flash backup fails with "file system full" error.
PreviouslyPublishedAs 212614 Symptoms Backup of the Sun StorEdge[TM] 6320 Service Processor Personality files to flash disk fails to complete. The following errors are observed in the /var/adm/messages file and the backup script log file: [sp0]# /opt/SUNWsefbru/bin/fbr -b cp: /flash/SP_Personality.tar.Z: No space left on device Mar 4 08:08:26 sp0 ufs: [ID 845546 kern.notice] NOTICE: alloc: /flash: file system full Since the backup script is executed every two minutes via cron, these warnings continually populate the messages file. Resolution The fbr script gets the list of files and directories for backup from /opt/SUNWsefbru/files/backup_list. One of the directories contained in that backup list is: /var/opt/SUNWstade/DATA/* This directory contains relevant StorADE data specific to the Sun StorEdge 6320. It also contains the following subdirectory: /var/opt/SUNWstade/DATA/Download/Solution This subdirectory contains EVERY solution extract performed by the administrator. After multiple solution extracts, the amount of data in the directory will far exceed the 16MB capacity of the flash disk. When this happens, the backup will fail, generating the previously identified error messages. The solution to the problem is to manually remove EVERYTHING from this directory, including the following subdirectories, files, and links. 6320.833570ba extract_6320.833570ba_2004-03-03_105828.tar log_6320.833570ba_2004-03-03_105828.txt Extract.tar Obviously, the names will be slightly different per the host ID and the date and time stamp. The directory contents cannot be emptied with StorADE. After this, the flash backup should run without any issues. If the problem persists, verify that all files in the backup_list are the appropriate size. Yes, the word "relevant" was mis-spelled - hardly worth a whole review cycle for that ! Made several changes for accuracy and readability. Added internal reference for Bug.
