Symptoms
When using Dynamic Reconfigure(DR) to remove a SunFire[TM] server's Uniboard, some customer administrators and field engineers have observed that their Lotus Domino server (one or more instances) are unexpectedly stopped.
This has been observed *both* removing boards with Kernel Memory and without Kernel Memory.
Additional system hardware/software environment:
Hardware: SunFire[TM] 15K or SunFire[TM] 25K and also likely on
other servers that support DR of system boards.
Software: Solaris[TM] 9 with latest patches sets as of writing this document
Customer app: Lotus Domino Notes[TM] 6xx or 6xx FP2
This issue has *not* been observed using Notes Domino[TM] server version R5.x or R4.x

Resolution
None from Sun, as this would appear to be a issue of interaction between DR and the new platform statistics function in the Domino Server 6xx or 6xx FP2.

Relief/Workaround
It would appear at this stage, though it has not confirmed, that the DR activities change some structures that the platform statistics functionality of the Domino Server are not expecting.
This leads to the failure of the Domino server. Based on information available, there are two workarounds for this issue: NOTE: It is important that the customer fully understands the impact of this change, and/or that the customer discusses this workaround with IBM to ensure that no other server functionality will be impacted.
Workaround 1: If customer agrees to do so, configure Lotus domino server's configuration file - notes.ini, add this line: PLATFORM_STATISTICS_DISABLED=1 and then restart domino instance to make the new setting effective. Important Note: Since each domino instance has it's own notes.ini configuration file, above change need to be applied for all instances on the target server. Workaround 2: If customer needs to use "PLATFORM STATISTICS" and do not want to restart domino server instance (a) before take action to DR a uniboard, momentarily disable the Platform Statistics functionality in each Domino server instance. From the server instance console command line: > platform pause (b) Now, Proceed with DR operations as normally (c) Once DR operation is done, re-enable the Platform Statistics feature > platform resume Important notice: Above steps (a) through (c) must be applied for all instances on target server to ensure all instances will not be affected by DR operations.

Internal Comments
The above two workarounds are only field verified at this stage.

The field team included Tony(Li) & Simon(Yuan), who have taken a lot of time to repeat testing & verification.

Each workaround was tested & verified over 10 times.
Domino[TM] administrators also involved in the tests and confirmed the results.
