Resolution Resolution Steps 1) Configuration
2) Verify software/firmware
3) Verify hardware If the problem is persistent after controller firmware and patch verification. Given the error message: Oct 7 17:27:39 calvados f/w initiated BDR fails BDR means Bus Device Reset. This error message can occur with a SCSI ATN+/- line cut. So it points to a hardware problem. Commands that initiate I/O (eg. format, cp, mv, ls, dd, etc.) should return with I/O errors.

In this case the SCSI cable between the host and the Sun StorEdge 3310 was defective. To resolve this, replace the aforementioned SCSI cable.
