Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1005730.1 : Sun Enterprise Volume Manager[TM] 2.X does not show both paths in DMP as valid after replacing GBIC hardware.
PreviouslyPublishedAs 207933 Symptoms When a GBIC is replaced in an Sun StorEdge[TM] A5x00 array (photon), Sun Enterprise Volume Manager (SEVM, Veritas Volume Manager, VxVM) will not always recognize that the loop has been healed, and therefore will not enable the previously failed path in Dynamic MultiPathing (DMP). This is most likely to occur in Sun Enterprise Volume Manager (SEVM) versions 2.x. Resolution You can verify whether the path has been re-enabled or not by typing: vxdisk list <diskname> and looking for the section of the output that looks like: Multipathing information: numpaths: 2 c1t2d0s2 state=enabled c2t2d0s2 state=disabled If one of the paths still shows as disabled after the GBIC has been replaced, perform one of the following: vxdctl enable or from vxva Volume Manager GUI in the 2.x versions: Disks -> Advanced Ops -> DMP -> Reconfigure DMP This should cause Volume Manager to recognize that the path has been restored.
