Patch ID: 106191-01 or later, it may fail with an error message of: Resolution If you run /usr/platform/sun4u/sbin/prtdiag -v you will see that the system configuration sees this system as a Sun Ultra[TM] 450 instead of reporting it as a Sun Enterprise[TM] 450. System Configuration: Sun[TM] Microsystems sun4u Sun Ultra 450 (2 X UltraSPARC-II 296MHz) You will also notice this same description from the OBP prompt by typing banner at the OK. You can change the nvram description from Ultra to Enterprise by changing the variable mfg-options to a value of 49. The change can be made in two different ways. 1. While the system is booted. # /usr/platform/sun4u/sbin/eeprom mfg-options=49 2. While at the OK prompt. OK setenv mfg-options 49 OK reset-all Rerun usr/platform/sun4u/sbin/prtdiag -v you will see that the system configuration sees this system as a Sun Enterprise 450 and the patch will install normally.
