SymptomsSymptomsSun StorEdge[TM] L20/L40/L60: configuration of mail slot is reset after upgrading robotics firmware. After upgrading robotics firmware (patch 111972-xx) of Sun StorEdge[TM] L20/L40/L60, tldcd daemon of VERITAS NetBackup detected the followings when the backup process started. Jan 22 18:22:57 dbs001 tldcd[2736]: [ID 375195 daemon.error] TLD(0) 40 is an invalid slot Jan 22 18:22:57 dbs001 ltid[2673]: [ID 362845 daemon.error] Request for media ID DU0015 is being rejected because it cannot be found in designated slot. After reviewing the tape library settings, it was found that configuration setting of mail slots of Sun StorEdge L20/L40/L60 was reset as factory default. ChangesUpgrading Robotics FirmwareCause{CAUSE}SolutionResolution This is not an issue, but and expected specification. After upgrading robotics firmware, library configuration settings will revert back to the factory defaults.
So before upgrading robotics firmware, it is highly recommended to take note of current settings of Sun StorEdge L20/L40/L60. Then after upgrading the firmware, manually set the appropriate values via library's front panel again before starting VERITAS NetBackup settings. Note: This is not a VERITAS NetBackup issue, but Sun StorEdge L20/L40/L60's specification. Internal Comments This fact is described on page 4-44 of "Tape Library Models 2/20, 4/40, and 6/60 User's Guide Edition 3".
