Symptoms

When swapping the Sun StorEdge[TM] L9 Tape Autoloader tapelibrary FRU, it is possible that the library's controller is still configured for network access via the Remote Management Console (RMC) card. When no RMC is installed, the library will be partially available and the orange led on the front panel lit.

This can be resolved without the need of an RMC card.

StorEdge[TM] L9 Tape Autoloader library PARTIAL AVAILABLE after swapping library

If, after a powercycle, the orange led is on and the library is PARTIAL AVAILABLE, use the front panel and the buttons below it to navigate through the menus :

[1] verify whether the RMC is the cause :

- main
- information
- loader information
- loader status

If it says :

      "PARTLY AVAILABLE"
"RMC not present"

then this infodoc applies.

[2] resolve the issue :

- main
- administration
- (default is 42311324)

A word of caution : it's possible that the L9 FRU still has the password of the former customer configured, in which case, you can reset the old password by applying the steps in internal .

- change configuration
- network access

following message will pop up :

      "cfg 'RMC Missing' Status"
"Reporting is ON"
"1. Suppress status report"

- choose 1 : suppress.
