Symptoms

Manipulation of array controllers in rm6 is not allowed and the error
Could not scan controllers is reported.

Though rm6 cannot manipulate the controllers; LUN's do appear
in format and lad outputs implying that the array is healthy.

This problem can occur when more than 8 LUN's are configured
on the array, but the OS is not configured correctly to recognize
more than 8 LUNs.

Resolution

If there are more than 8 LUN's configured on the array; ensure /etc/osa/rmparams is updated as follows:

SystemMaxLunsPerController=16 (If there are more then 16 Luns then use 32)

Run the following command:

  /usr/lib/osa/bin/genscsiconf

After running genscsiconf, the host needs to be rebooted for the sd.conf to be reread allocating the additional lun support.

This should be a reconfiguration reboot to create the additional device paths now visible from the extended lun support

 #touch /reconfigure
#init 6

Check /dev/dsk and /dev/rdsk to ensure the additional luns device paths point to the rdnexus pseudo device and not to physical devices.

Comment: Updated procedure. If issue was truely Lun related and the array was using the sd driver. i.e. A3000 A3500 A1000 (not A3500FC which will use ssd). then the server will need to be rebooted to add the additional lun support. sd.conf gets read at boot. The reconfiguration option is necessary to build the device entries. Then you should check and ensure all the newly created device paths are pointing to rdnexus entries.
