Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1001625.1 : Can not see Raid Modules in Raid Manager 6 GUI(Graphical User Interface), or CLI(Command Line Interface) commands hang.
PreviouslyPublishedAs 202212 Symptoms After a new installation of Sun StorEdge[TM] A1000 or Sun StorEdge[TM] A3x00, cannot see the Raid Modules or LUNs(Logical Unit Number) in the RM6 GUI(Graphical User Interface). Can see the devices in format and they look healthy using lad and other commands. Resolution Below are few steps to take to resolve this issue. Check the /etc/osa/mnf file for an extraneous "." after the module name. By default this will be something like hostname_001 (for the first module after installation). A "." is never allowed in the module name and will cause most Raid Manager CLI(Command Line Interface) utilities to fail as well as various failures with the RM6 GUI. If there is a trailing "."remove the /etc/osa/mnf file and run the lad command. The /etc/osa/mnf file should be recreated with the correct module name. Another possible cause is a "fully qualified" hostname (eg. the hostname command returns hostname.domain). This is not a valid hostname - the domain should only be added on by the nameservice. Run sys-unconfig and rename the system, then remove the /etc/osa/mnf file. On starting rm6, you should now see all the raid modules. Additional Information I spent one hour reviewing and testing this document. I was unable to confirm the second portion of the resolution, but agree that the domain should not be included in the hostname.
