PreviouslyPublishedAs 201759 Product Sun StorageTek 6540 Array Impact Unpredictable compatibility issues and/or illegal unsupported configurations. SANtricity: SANtricity 9.16.G2.40 is compatible with 6540 and any FLX/D/B series array at or below the 6.15.x.x firmware level except for arrays with 6.15.27.05 and 6.12.27.00 firmware (see Note below). Code: SANtricity 9.16.G2.40, 6.16.81.00 firmware, 9865 ESM (IOM) code (CSM2), NVSRAM, and associated fix lists will only be available on the Uniform Software Repository (USR) located at... http://dlrequest.sfbay.sun.com:88/ For the 9.16.G2.40 release only there will be no associated Field Bill. Warning: Firmware 6.16.81.00 can be used on a 6540 with no restrictions. For the FLX380, the firmware should only be used in those cases where the customer has an FLX380 and only with CSM2 trays. It should not be used on FLX380s with mixed trays. Firmware/storage management matrix: For configuration information on 6540 and CSM2 trays the matrix listing all available SANtricity versions and code (known as firmware_storagemgmnt4j.xls) will now include tabs for these. The extracted tabs for 6540/CSM2 will be posted at a Sun public web site at… http://pts-storage.west/products/SE6130/faq.html#tables Note: For those arrays running firmware 6.15.27.05 or 6.12.27.00 the SANtricity 9.15.G2.20 client is required. Field support personnel will need to plan for client compatibility when performing maintenance in a mixed 6540/FLX/D/B environment where the above firmware versions are in use. Warning! Downloading of SANtricity 9.16.G2.40 is for the exclusive, internal use of Sun support personnel. SANtricity 9.16.G2.40 will not be distributed to customers; it must be ordered for customers. The only exception is where it is certain the customer has ordered SANtricity 9.16.G2.40 for FLX380 attach to CSM2 trays. It is incumbent on the local support team to verify this through the Sales Channel. Contributing Factors
Symptoms To support the release of the 6540 as well as FLX380 with CSM2 trays Sun is establishing internal web based distribution of compatible SANtricity. Code for 6540/FLX380/CSM2 and fix lists will also be available at this web resource. To track code releases on all arrays, including 6540 additional tabs have been added to the firmware/storage management matrix. This matrix is now available on both Sun classic and StorageTek legacy web sites. Root Cause
