Impact

A bug identified in Hi-Track version 8.4, can cause Hi-Track to initiate a continuous phone home telephone call loop to the configured PC Collector(s).  The PC Collectors are also known as Site1 and Site2 in the Hi-Track front application "Site Information" screen.  The continuous call home loop can result in a denial of access situation, for any other SE99x0 units trying to connect to the same PC Collector(s), that the SE99x0 unit hung in the call home loop is continually connecting to.

Resolution

To verify if a particular SE99x0 unit may be impacted by this issue, please review the SCCC Hi-Track summary page URL.

A SE99x0 unit serial number or Site ID will need to be input to view the Hi-Track summary page.

All SE99x0 units that have Hi-Track 8.4 installed need be upgraded promptly to a later Hi-Track version.  As of the release date of the FIN the recommended Hi-Track version to install is Hi-Track version 8.F.

Hi-Track version 8.F is available for download via the following URL.

Internal Comments

This issue has been seen to primarily impact the 9900V array types, (SE9970 and SE9980).  The SE9910 and SE9960 array types can also be impacted.  However, as the SVP's in the SE9910 and SE9960 models are rebooted on a daily basis, the impact is less severe and prolonged compared to the 9900V models, so consequently it may go unnoticed.

The SCCC - Storage team will, at a yet to be determined date, release Proactive SES notifications.  This will result in Radiance cases being generated, for those SE99x0 units known to have Hi-Track version 8.4 installed.

Abbreviations used in this FIN.
