PreviouslyPublishedAs 200514 Product Sun StorageTek 3510 FC Array Sun StorageTek 3511 SATA Array Symptoms
The purpose of this bulletin is to warn that duplicate Chassis IDs of a SE3510 or SE3511 in a raid controller + JBOD configuration could cause change in the array configuration at power on of array. A manual change of Chassis-IDs could occur during installation/ replacement of a SE3510/SE3511/JBOD while handling units with the Chassis-id switch cover removed. A change of ID may cause duplicate IDs to exist. Multi-unit configurations will have drive assignment conflicts when two or more units have the same Chassis-id at power on. Each array in the partner configuration is required to have a unique Target ID. Configurations with drive assignment conflicts will not have access to any preconfigured Logical Drives.
Workaround Resolution Prior to any installation/replacement of a SE3510/SE3511/JBOD in a 3510/3511+JBOD/JBODs configuration, document the ID switch settings by serial number for each of the arrays. Complete the installation/replacement and before replacing the Chassis ID Switch Cover Panels(ears) visually verify that the Chassis IDs are correct and that there are not any conflicts prior to power on.
