Impact
This issue can arise if the disk's VTOC was created using an old version of the sd driver. Disks will not be recognized for their entire size.
Contributing Factors
In most instances the affected disks have low firmware versions (Part number and firmware version mentioned above).
Symptoms
Root Cause
Workaround
Resolution
- Comprehensive Field Instructions: If FE's or SSE's encounter this issue at a customer site, they should first try to delete the existing VTOC from the disk and recreate the disk. Before doing this make sure the system's sd patches are up to date. Check the platform patches from the following URL:
http://pts-platform/twiki/bin/view/Products/ProdPatchesFirmwareV20z .
If the issue is encountered during the Solaris install then use the ITU patch given in the above URL to patch the sd during installation, then delete the VTOC and re-create the VTOC using the new version of sd.
- Additional Comments: Read the SRDB 83659 for more information on how to delete and recreate the VTOC.
