PreviouslyPublishedAs 200209 Product Sun Fire T2000 Server Part
Impact Physical damage may occur to the USB components (Resistors R3920, R3921, R3816, and R3701) located on the underside of the motherboard at the rear corner near the USB ports if appropriate care is NOT taken or if the motherboard is incorrectly removed/replaced. Symptoms
Root Cause The small clearance between the chassis and motherboard, coupled with the location of the USB components underneath and near the edge of the motherboard makes the USB components vulnerable to being caught on the chassis and damaged when removing/replacing the Sun Fire T2000 motherboard. Resistors R3920, R3921, R3816, and R3701 (all part of the USB circuitry) are the components that are most likely to be damaged. Workaround
Resolution Extra care is required when removing or replacing the motherboard FRU in a Sun Fire T2000. When removing or refitting the motherboard, ensure that the components on the underside of the board do not snag on the chassis or other components as the board is removed from the chassis. Follow the instructions for removing and replacing the motherboard FRU assembly in the Sun Fire T2000 Service Manual, Part No. 819-2548-11, Chapter 4 "Replacing Cold Swappable FRUs" starting at Page 92.
