Chapter 20

Dialogs and the Hot Button Bar

This chapter describes the following Visual Thought features:

Hot Button Bar

Icons on the Hot Button bar represent commands in the menu. Note that many commands in Visual Thought have menu options, keyboard accelerators and icons on the Hot Button bar; in all cases, the same command is invoked.

Inspector Dialog

The Inspector dialog is discussed in the chapter entitled
"Editing Objects Using the Inspector" on page 81.

The Grid dialog is discussed in the chapter entitled "Using Grids" on page 143.

This dialog allows you to edit Visual Thought diagrams.

Grid Dialog

This dialog allows you to set the grid spacing, snap and visibility.

Selection Dialog

For an example of how to use the Selection dialog, see
"Selecting Multiple Objects of the Same Type" on page 65.

The Selection dialog allows you to select objects by type of object. You can select all the circles, for example, in your diagram.

But Visual Thought's Selection dialog allows you to do more than just select certain shapes:

Align Dialog

For examples of how to use the Align dialog, see
"Using the Align Dialog" on page 96.

The Align dialog allows you to align and distribute objects in a variety of ways.

Page Layout Dialog

For further discussion of the Page Layout dialog, see
"Page Layout" on page 159.

The Page Layout dialog allows you to define the parameters of pages in which you draw your diagrams.

Print Dialog

The Print dialog is discussed in
"Printing" on page 161.

This dialog allows you to print your Visual Thought diagrams.

Type Binding Dialog

The Type Binding dialog appears when you have attached a file to an object, attempted to activate the attachment, and Visual Thought does not recognize the file's type. The Type Binding dialog asks you to provide information necessary to run the attached file.

Color Chooser

The color chooser is discussed in the chapter entitled
"Using the Color Chooser" on page 205.

The file chooser is discussed more in "Open" on page 167.

This dialog allows you to set the colors for Visual Thought objects.

File Chooser

This dialog is used in a variety of circumstances for opening or saving files. Depending on context, it can be used for opening or saving Visual Thought documents, and opening attached files, images, or sounds.
