Tool Key and Button Bindings

Introduction

Choosing a Tool

Key	Name	Operation
1		Change to the Select tool
2		Change to the Text tool
3		Change to the Connection tool
4		Change to the Shape tool

Select Tool

Key or Button	Name	Operation
Backspace Del		Delete selected objects.
		Move selected objects left, right, up, or down by one grid space (grid on) or one point (grid off).
left	Select	Select, move, and resize objects.
double-left		Enter Edit submode of Text tool.
Ctrl-left	Adjust	Toggle selection of objects. Move and resize objects with constraints.
Shift-left	Extend	Add objects to selection. Move and resize objects.
middle	Drag	Duplicate selected objects and move the duplicates.
Ctrl-middle	Constrained Drag	Duplicate selected objects and move the duplicates with constraints.
right	Menu	Pop up menus.

Text Tool: Text Submode

Key or Button	Name	Operation
Backspace Del		Delete selected objects.
left	Select	Create a text object and enter Edit submode.
right	Menu	Pop up menus.

Backspace		Delete character left.
Del		Delete character right.
Esc		Leave Edit mode and change to Select tool.
Tab		Move Edit focus right by one object.
Shift-Tab		Move Edit focus left by one object.

left	Select	Place cursor or select a range of text.
double-left		Select word.
triple-left		Select line.
right	Menu	Pop up menus.

Text Tool: Edit Submode

Connection Tool

Backspace Del		Delete selected objects or the last created point.
left	Select	Create a connection object or add a point.
Ctrl-left	Adjust	Add a point with constraints.
double-left		End connection.
right	Menu	Pop up menus.

Shape Tool

Backspace Del		Delete selected objects.
left	Select	Create a shape object.
Ctrl-Shift-left		Change default shape (click on a shape of the desired type in a Palette or View)

Pan Tool

Zoom Tool
