README FOR ADOBE PHOTOSHOP 2.5.2 RELATED SOLARIS 2.3 PATCHES Adobe Systems has included two sets of patches to Solaris 2.3 that are highly recommended for installation on all SPARCstations using Photoshop. Please note that these patches SHOULD NOT BE APPLIED TO SOLARIS 2.4 or later systems. Two sets of patches are included: 1. A single patch - 101362-24 (within the "patches/solaris2.3/all_machines" subdirectory) that is recommended for all Sun SPARCstations using Photoshop. This patch fixes a potential hang in Display PostScript based applications because of the server's failure to respond at DPS initialization time. Without the patch, the hang may occur in the following Adobe products: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat Exchange, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Adobe ShowPS and Adobe Type Installer. Additionally, the patch fixes a server crash bug which manifests itself in Photoshop when there are many palettes and windows on the screen and a Photoshop action causes one of the document windows to change size (as in a Resize operation). 2. Three patches - 101331-03, 101318-42, 101594-04 (within the "patches/solaris2.3/sx_only" subdirectory) that only apply to Sun SPARCstations configured with the SX graphics accelerator (SPARCstation 10/SX and 20/SX). Patch 101331-03 must be installed before installing the other two patches. The two patches fix serious SX-related bugs in Solaris 2.3. These recommended patches to Solaris are supplied by SunSoft, Inc. and are covered by the terms and conditions of your original Solaris 2.3 license. Adobe Systems is providing these patches as a convenience to our users. Check with your authorized Solaris service provider to determine if these are the latest and most appropriate versions of the patches. Consult with your system administrator before installing these patches. If you have already installed later versions of these patches, you should not install the versions provided on this CD-ROM. To determine what patches are already installed on your system use the `showrev -p' command in a UNIX shell window. The `-XX' after the patch number indicates the version number. If you have any problems with patch installation or the resulting operation or have any questions regarding patch installation, you will need to contact your authorized Solaris Service Provider or Sun Customer Service (1-800-USA-4-SUN). Adobe Systems will not provide technical support, warranty or indemnification for Solaris patch installation. To install Solaris 2.3 patches, please review all `readme' files in the patch subdirectories.
