26462 | A5X00: luxadm insert error: can not initialize the loop | 27 Apr 2001 |
Status | Issued |
Description |
Newly attached A5200 to a PCI based host.
Running the "luxadm probe" command returns "no network enclosures found".
Running the "luxadm insert" command returns "could not initialize the loop".
After fixing above issues (as suggested in solution below), when you give the command "luxadm insert", you start getting:
"lstat() error: Could not get status for /dev/es directory"
SOLUTION SUMMARY:
Check if all of the following packages are installed on the system:
SUNWeulux, SUNWluxd, SUNWluxdx, SUNWluxl, SUNWluxlx, SUNWluxop, SUNWvolux, SUNWses, SUNWsesx, SUNWifp, SUNWifph and SUNWifpx
You may verify this using the following command:
# cd /var/sadm/pkg
# ls -ld *lux* *ses* *ifp*
The packages may not have been installed during the solaris installation if the install didn't include the "entire distribution plus oem" installation.
Also, ensure that SUNWluxdx and SUNWluxlx are included when solaris is running in 64 bit mode. You may check what mode solaris is running by issuing the following command:
# isainfo -v
Now, after installing any missing packages from the solaris CD, when you run the "luxadm insert" command again, you may get the following error message:
"lstat() error: Could not get status for /dev/es directory"
Do the following to resolve this error:
# cd /dev/es
# rm *
# drvconfig -i ses (create ses entries again)
# devlinks (create links)
Now, "luxadm insert" and "luxadm probe" should run fine.
